Because the flight left late from London, England, it arrived too late into San Francisco for us to make our connecting flight to Portland, Oregon (PDX). In San Francisco we had to go through the immigration check-point. Our Global Entry access allowed us to expedite that process. But we still had to pick up our checked baggage, exit the security area, go to another terminal that was quite a distance, and then re-check our baggage and check in for our domestic flight to Portland. By that time it was too late to check our baggage for our connecting flight. United re-booked us on the next flight to Portland that departed a couple of hours later. In the meantime, we enjoyed glasses of complimentary wine and some snacks in the United Lounge.
